Savory Spoon Tomato Basil Poached Meatballs

INGREDIENTS
Makes 28–32 large (1/3 cup) meatballs (freezer friendly)
Meatball Mixture
1.32 kg ground beef
908 g ground pork
200–240 g bread, torn
1 cup milk
3 eggs
2 Tbsp salt
2–3 tsp black pepper
2 tsp garlic powder (or 4–6 cloves minced)
2 tsp onion powder (optional)
1 tsp dried basil
4 Tbsp fresh basil, finely chopped
2–3 Tbsp cilantro (optional, use lightly)
For Simmering
3 × 710 ml jars Savory Spoon Tomato Basil Sauce
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Make the Panade
Add bread to a bowl and pour milk over to moisten.
Let sit 5 minutes.
Lightly squeeze out excess milk (don’t wring dry).
Mash into a paste.
2. Mix the Meatballs
Combine beef, pork, panade, eggs, salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, dried basil, and fresh basil.
Mix gently until just combined. (Do not overmix.)
3. Shape
Scoop 1/3 cup per meatball and roll gently.
Chill 20–30 minutes to help them hold shape.
4. Simmer in Sauce
Add Tomato Basil sauce to a large pot and bring to a gentle simmer.
Lower meatballs in carefully.
Do not stir for 15 minutes.
Simmer 35–40 minutes, covered.
Turn off heat and rest 10 minutes in the sauce.
5. Serve With

Mashed potatoes
Crusty bread
Salad
